Dear Mister Hopper I am a Sergeant in the US Army currently serving in Germany. I have a very unusual hobby, I write to celebrites to see if they will be kind enough to respond. Since you are a celebrity that I admire, I hope that you don't mnd getting a few kind words from me. I think you are an awesome actor and i have always enjoyed your work. You have given me a lot of pleasure and enjoyment at the movies and I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you thank you. I have seldom seen an actor who can bring to their roles the intensity and power that you do to yours. I particularly enjoyed Blue Velvet. You played one of the most repulsive movie bad guys of all time and I loved it. I remember you told David Lynch that you had to play Frank Booth because you were Frank Booth! I had a question for you, if you don't mind, what was John Wayne like? You made two films with him The Sons Of Katie Elder (this was his first film after he had that lung cancer operation)_and True Grit. Was he as great a guy in real life as he was on the movie screen? I would love hearing back. My Best Wishes and God bless David Tucker

I am trying desperately to identify a movie that Dennis Hopper was in. The only thing that I can remember is one particular scene. Dennis is in a chair with his hands and legs bound by tape (or rope). He is being interrogated about the whereabouts of his son (or partner) by a couple of Italian guys (not sure if it's the mob or bad cops). When he refuses to disclose the location, they begin to beat him pretty badly. After he recognizes that they are going to kill him anyway, he starts playing mind games with them and begins to insult them. He asks "don't you guys ever wonder why your people's hair and complexions are so dark?" He then talks about the history of when the Mores came up from Africa and basically raped so many of the women that it had an impact on the population. They then shoot him.

Can you help?

Please email me back at mkanders@southernco.com

thanks -Mike-

the dnis hpr why are so many out of touch transplants moving to colorado and developing a superficial hollywood playground? your voice carries weight to possibly arrest the rapid development in some humans hometown possibly by way of portraying these pill-agers in picture perfect active life. the result is clear, who needs another rich man burried in some cemetery. beverly hills has cast a vanity=dreams cloud that affects us all. I just want my little town to be a nice place for humans and not a breeding ground for scandalous, greedy manequins. those in big budget star driven films know exactly how the tongue and cheek bullshit works for or against you and still do little to stop it. was it all in vain? squeakyhag@hotmail

Re: The Last Movie

I run a cinema club in london called The Wayward Canon. We are showing the films that have come off the tracks, the influencial filmmakers that have slipped on cultural ice like Markopolis, Franju, your Last Movie, Edgar G Ulmer, Dario Argento.

Could you let me know where to get hold of The Last Movie? do you have a VHS I could borrow.

I shall publish a book of The Wayward Canon at the end of the year.

Dear Mr Hopper

I don't know if you will ever read this message.

If you do, I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your exhibition at the Stedelijk. It was one of the best exhibitions I have seen.

I live near London but was in Amsterdam for a few days. I had never been to the Stedelijk before, but was there for the opening. It was a great environment in which to see you work.

I'm sure you have no recollection of signing my copy of the book of the exhibition for my wife Mindy or a bit of paper for myself, but thank you.

and you have probably heard this many times before, but thank you for Easy Rider and The Last Movie, 2 great pieces of art that have long been an inspiration to me.

Dear Mr Hopper,

I see I'm the first but thanks to you and Rudi Fuchs for the great exhibit in Amsterdam. I went to see it this saturday and you very kindly signed the catalogue for me and a magazine for my friend Robert.

I am a young Dutch poet and found your work intruiging. You are keenly interested in what is around you: when you want to show a corrugated iron wall, you do just that. And because it's there, it becomes more, so in that way you let the audience decide the metaphor (like in some movies). That's the approach I take in my work and it's what I admire in other writers as well. Unfortunately, it's all in Dutch, so you won't be able to read it!

Anyway, look forward to seeing the 'Hopper's world' co-exhibit in March.

Best wishes, Willem willpoet@wish.net

I love all his work, and think he only gets sexier the older he gets. Dear Mr. Hopper -

I'm writing to invite your participation in an upcoming event celebrating the life and work of Miles Davis. Symphony Space, in New York City, presents an annual 12 hour music marathon exploring the work of one composer/artist. Based on your past association with Miles Davis, and his work with you on the movie "The Hot Spot," we would be honored if you would consider speaking about your work and friendship with him.

Please feel free to e-mail us with questions, or if you are interested, at Bill.Bbragin@symphonyspace.org. We certainly hope to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Bill Bragin Curator of Music and Dance Symphony Space

I have seen a movie called "shanghia noon" and an actor in this movie reminds me of you. His name is Owen Wilson. He talks and looks so much like you. Are you related? I am curious. Either you are or he has studied you very well. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Karen wondergram@hotmail.com
